US Tourist Visa for Thai Nationals

Life could sometimes be boring. People gradually get tired of doing the same routines, meeting the same people, being at the same place at all times. True enough, everybody needs to relax and they sometimes have to get out of their comfort zone to do this - do other things, acquaint with new people, and go to another place.

The Thai nationals are not exceptions. No matter how beautiful the Kingdom is, there is still one point on their lives when they want to leave the country and explore what is outside it. Most often, they go to the USA to experience the Western life; and it would be made possible with a US Tourist Visa.

For Thai nationals to tour the United States of America, they have to obtain a Non-Immigrant B2 Visa. This single-entry visa allows its holders to enter the western country for pleasure and recreation, and stay there for a certain period of time - as dictated by the immigration officer.

To procure a tourist visa to US, a Thai national should be able to present the following requirements:

1. Non-Immigration Application Form DS-160 2. Valid Passport
3. Passport photos
4. Evidences to prove strong ties with Thailand
5. Proofs of capability to travel to US
6. Evidences to prove the purpose of travel

The process is quite easy. It starts with the lodging of the visa application at the US Embassy in Bangkok or at the US Consulate General in Chiang Mai. All aforementioned requirements should be submitted for processing. A certain fee of $140 should also be paid.

Afterwards, the Thai national should schedule himself/herself for an interview with the immigration officer. If the applicant is 13 years old and below or above 80 years old, such requirement would no longer be necessary unless requested by the embassy or consulate. It is done in English and this is often the basis whether the tourist visa will be granted. Therefore, it is advisable for the Thai national to come to the interview prepared.

If the applicant provided sufficient documents and the process went on smoothly, the waiting time would be short. However, it still depends on the deciding officer. Therefore, it is important to apply for a US tourist visa early.
Once the visa is issued, the Thai national could now fly to US. But one must understand that a visa is not a guarantee of entry to the country. The immigration officer at the US Port of Entry has the authority to deny entrance of a US tourist visa holder if deemed necessary.

A Thai national could apply for a US Tourist Visa on his or her own anytime but to be more certain that the right procedure is being followed, it is best to seek assistance from visa experts in Thailand.
