All the organizations have got different cadres in the organizations and people are recruited to these jobs in each cadre. The employees are given pay for the work they do and the pay is fixed under different pay scales. Each employee is given annual increments on completion of each year till the running time scale is exhausted. In some organizations they do not stop grant of annual increments and the employee continue getting annual increments till they are in service.
All the organizations have got punishment and appeal rules too and when employees are committing misconducts, they are punished and at times they are given punishment of stoppage of annual increments. Some time punishment is given stoppage of one or two increments with cumulative effect and sometime they are given punishment of stoppage of annual increments without cumulative effect and the employee gets two increments next year.
Stoppage of annual increments is a recognized punishment and one should avoid this punishment because such punishments are taken into account when our turn for promotion comes and at times we are ignored and not given promotion. The employers and the officers under whom we are functioning shall be judging our performance in the department and if our work and conduct is not found satisfactory, annual increments could be stopped by the employer, but it is most necessary to conduct disciplinary proceedings before such an order is passed.
In some organizations they have introduced a new type of annual increment and this is called proficiency stop ups and when this increment is given, the case shall be considered by the competent authority like one when an employee is due for promotion.; Therefore, an employee must be sure that his performance is always update and he is satisfying his competent authority
Pay increase is a must in service because our expenses are increasing with the passing of time and till actual promotion comes in our service, we must be getting our annual increments. Therefore, we must keep our work and conduct satisfactory so that we may be getting our annual increments in time and without any hindrance.
