Change Of Filing Location For Form I-601, Application For Waiver Of Ground Of Inadmissibility
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have announced the revision of Form I-601, the application for Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibility. The revision of Form I-601 effective from January 4, 2010 aims for the welfare of immigrants in the United States.
Immigrants who could be benefited by the Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibility, include individuals affected with HIV virus. As per the revisions such individuals are no longer inadmissible into the United States and hence the filing of Form I-601 by the HIV affected individual is also not required.
In order to shift the intake of benefit forms from USCIS Local Offices and Service Centres to USCIS Lockbox facility, USCIS has stated a change of filling instructions and addresses for applicants filling Form I-601.
The revision of Form I-601 declared by the USCIS to centralize the form and fee intake to a Lockbox environment is for efficient initial processing of applications and fees. This changes are an effort to ensure effective customer service and satisfaction.
The filing location changes by the USCIS have been effectual commencing from 1/27/2010. A self-petitioning spouse, a legal permanent resident, or T nonimmigrant's, or others who fall under the approved Form I-360 category and trying to adjust their status can apply with the USCIS Vermont Service Center.
Applicants outside the US trying to file their forms for Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibility can file their applications at the US Embassy where they usually apply for visas.
Applicants who file Form I-601 at a Lockbox facility and opt to receive an email regarding the acceptance of their application by USCIS, are required to attach an E-Notification in the first page of the application.
USCIS offices have planned that incorrectly filled Form I-601 applications will be forwarded and retained at the Lockbox facilities until 2/27/2010, before sending them back to the applicants.
