Immigration to Japan
Japanese Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, established in 1991, regulates the entry and exit of Japan. This law also establishes procedures for granting refugee status and define the rules to take up residence in the country. Immigration Act of Japan also provides information on the different routes of immigration, an alien can take to become a citizen.
Foreigners who do not possess a valid passport can not legally enter Japan. People who do not receive authorization or a stamp of approval to land can not enter Japan either, and foreigners who have certain infections, evading law enforcement or who have not the economic means of support. People who have a valid passport can enter Japan, and immigration inspector will inspect to ensure that an alien is able to enter Japan before departure.
When it comes to settle permanently in Japan, a person must have a source of income. Other factors for permanent residence are of good conduct and a consecutive period of 10 years residence in the country. People who have spouses who are Japanese nationals or who have made outstanding contributions to Japanese society will be able to obtain residency in less time than the mandatory 10-year period.
Immigration to Japan :All foreigners staying in Japan for more than 90 days must obtain a registration card for foreigners in the first 90 days of his visit. The municipal offices are located in a particular city will have applications that foreigners must, to obtain a registration card. Foreigners need this card to Japan to perform the normal functions such as opening a bank account or set up services for mobile phones. Foreign guests must also have these cards at all times when traveling in Japan.
