SKYPE 4.2.0.187 Final
If you are a regular user of Skype, you will immediately notice the lifting greater than the 4.2.0.187 version of voice over Internet protocol has been. It feels smoother and retyped, and passing from one element to another is much easier. But the new version also seems a bit cluttered and cumbersome, and gobble up more space on your desktop.
The new configuration component is responsible for the increased congestion. Skype 4.2.0.187 departing from an arrangement of its predecessor with two windows for your cont 00004000 acts, and one for your conversations, instead of grouping them into a single pane. Jump to the Compact divides the component into two, but the two separated halves still feel awkward. Whether you keep the single-tier or break into pieces, more stuff is on the default display and the windows are larger to accommodate it all. For example, during a call, the interface displays a box with your picture (or icon) with a message window and buttons to access your Skype account and customization options. Although you can click to hide this box, I preferred the more discreet layout of previous versions.
Some new features in Skype 4.2.0.187 work well. New Conversations tab allows you to manage many things at once, so you can flit around video calls to make voice calls, instant messaging conversations. And I like being able to engage in a video call right off the bat, with previous versions, you had to launch a voice call on Skype, then start the game video, provided that both parties had cameras and running. Skype can handle up to two heads talking during a video call data.
The company claims that the audio and video quality has improved in Skype 4.2.0.187 and in my tests, I noticed that the voice is heard usually little better than before. I've never met and sounding words breaking stammered something I experienced with earlier versions of Skype. Indeed, the whole experience improved audio, including moments of silence during the test calls: Voices sounded as if they were not out of a hollow extended churchlike space inside.
The video quality of Skype 4.2.0.187 also impressed me. The video stream presented minimal choppiness, and I noticed that a few short blocks. In addition, the colors seem richer and less washed out.
With a VoIP program like Skype, the voice and a better quality video assets questionable interface changes every day. I'm upgrading to 4.2.0.187. That said, some Skype users can skip this update. If you use Skype public chats, you need to know that this version does not allow you to introduce new, if you can continue to participate in existing conversations. Skype said it plans to reintroduce public chats in the future updates. If you are satisfied with the call quality of your current version of Skype, and you are happy with its look and feel, consider staying with the version you have. And of course there are competing services, such as ooVoo to consider.
