Perfect your organizational skills in 2010 - Stop Juggling Your Tasks and Get Some Real Work Done

Being organized is one of the key skills a person must develop. Being organized, gives a sense of clarity and helps you to get things done faster. It also frees your valuable time to do the things that you love to do. Being unorganized is a waste of time because you are spending time on many things that randomly pop up.

1. Make a list
Make it a habit to work from a list. If you go shopping with a list, you will be able to get what you really want with the minimum amount of impulse buying. The same way, if you start your day with a list, you can get the most important things done without wasting time on random things.

You can make it a New Year's resolution to go to bed everyday with a to-do list for next day. Write down the important and urgent 10 things that you should achieve to make that day a success. Then pick 2 or 3 items that you must get done. Just by having the items organized to a list will also help you to sleep better.

2. Eliminate non essential stuff
Most people spend way too much time on non-essential stuff. After you have created a list, when the new things come up for the day, add them to the bottom of your list. When you write them down you will start to realize the true importance of those new tasks. Many times you will realize you can completely eliminate some tasks without serious consequences.

We do not have time to do everything that comes our way, pick the critical things and then either eliminate or delegate the rest.

3. Start Early
The third step of getting organized is to get started early finish each task one at a time. Often we are tempted to jump from one task to another when we get slightly bored. This is not productive since you will be wasting time on trying to think about many things and trying to re-start every task.

A better approach is to once you start a task force yourself to go until completion. Completing the most important tasks, and crossing them off from the list early in the morning will give you a burst of energy to stay motivated.
