Canada Immigration Forms 2011

Do You Want To Immigrate To Canada?

I am sure you have heard the phrase, "you snooze, you lose." Well, that may really be true if you are thinking to immigrate to Canada.

On 00004000 June 26, 2010, Canadian Minister of Immigration announced important modifications to the Federal Skilled Worker category of Canadian Immigration. The Minister issued instructions to his Department to:

  • Declare a moratorium on new applications under the Federal Immigrant Investor Program
  • Limit the number of Federal Skilled Worker applications, without an accompanying job offer, to 20,000 for the next 12 months.

Moreover, to be eligible as a skilled worker without a Canadian job offer, the principal applicant must have worked for at least one year in the past 10 in one of only 29 listed occupations that are considered "open" for Canadian immigration purposes. To top it off, no more than 1,000 applications will be considered under any one occupation - first come, first served.

Furthermore the immigration issue will be at the center during the Canada's election in 2011. There are two major immigration points that political parties will be battling for during the election. The first one deals with the recent proposal that would permit Canadian immigration authorities to detain genuine asylum seeking men, women and children for up to a year. The second controversial issue involves a recently leaked memo indicating that the Canadian and U.S. administrations are on the verge of signing an agreement to put in place a North American security perimeter. In theory, a deal to strengthen continental security while easing the flow of goods and people within the perimeter is a positive objective. However, there is the possibility of Canada giving up sovereignty to the U.S. in a secretly negotiated border security deal.

No one knows about the impact of upcoming election. It is certain that there are a lot of strong feelings associated with immigration. However, there is lull for a while. Earlier this month the result of a survey, which covered 18,000 people in 24 countries, was released. The question put to these individuals was simple: "If you were presented with the opportunity of moving to Canada, would you?" Overwhelmingly, the respondents answered in the affirmative - including 77 percent of those canvassed in China and 68 percent from India. Seventy-two percent believed that Canada is welcoming to immigrants. Surprisingly, even 30 per cent of Americans would choose Canada if they could.

The good news is that some of the provinces, and especially the province of Quebec, still believe in the human capital model, in which one's total background is given greater importance than their experience in a particular occupation. All it may take is a willingness to learn a little French.

ACanada Immigration(Permanent Resident) Visa is a document which allows a person to live and work anywhere in Canada, and confers upon that person Permanent Resident status. It comes with certain responsibilities and may be revoked if the holder does not meet Canadian residency obligations, or is found guilty of serious criminal activity. A person who is a Canadian Permanent Resident may apply for Canadian Citizenship after 3 years.

A Work Permit allows an eligible visitor to reside and work in Canada for a limited period of time, and restrictions are usually placed on the type of employment which can be pursued. It will not, by itself, lead to Canadian Permanent Resident status. This applies to people who are seeking as skilled worker immigration to Canada.

Immigrating to Canada has over time become more and more complicated. There are currently more than 60 different federal and provincial immigration programs under which an applicant may qualify and it is very difficult for an individual to know which program is most suitable to their circumstances. You can apply a Canadian ImmigrationVisa Application on your own. However, your chances of succeeding are increased if a qualified Canadian immigration attorney represents you. Moreover, a perfected application will, in many cases, shorten the immigration process, allowing you to obtain your Canada Immigration Visa faster.

In summary, if you desire to ba an immigrant to Canada, you may want to seek immigration lawyer in Canada.
