Temporary and Non-Immigrant Visas Limitations in Canada
Foreign citizens, who wish to enter Canada for temporary purpose, unless they are citizens of a visa-exempt country, must be granted a Temporary Resident Visa. A TRV can be provided for various purposes, the three main purposes - Studying, Work or Visit are listed below. Tourists are admitted for a period of six months, time periods for workers and student vary from case to case, TRV may also be for single entry or multiple entry. While demonstrating a TRV when entering Canada the visitor must confirm that the purpose of his visit is temporary and that he or she is able to support themselves during their intended temporary stay. It is important to remember that criminal or medical issues may prevent a foreign visitor from entering Canada. Also obtaining any of the temporary visas is easier if the individual has a number of past visits and made no violations in Canada during these visits.
Study
One of the Non-Immigrant Visa types is Study Visa. Over 100,000 students from various countries come to study in Canada every year. Despite numerous types of educational organizations public or private, mostly such education starts with Gateway Colleges, educational organizations that upon graduation help the graduate student to enter a Canadian university. Such Colleges are useful for students who don't possess sufficient English or French language skills to study at the university level. If a person has studied in Canada or even accepted to a reputable Canadian education institution he or she will be provided with valuable points of assessment for an application for permanent residence.
Work
The Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations mandates the Department of Human Resources and Social Development Canada ("HRSDC") to calculate the impact of temporary of permanent hiring of foreign workers on the labour market. If the HRSDC decides that the hiring of the individual will have a positive or neutral economic impact on the labour market, the hiring will be allowed. This process is called aEmployment Validationa. There are also a number of special cases that are exempt from the employment validation process. Still in most cases when the worker is validated by HRSDC, he or she can apply for a temporary work permit at the appropriate immigration office.
Visit
A Visit Visa is given to a person who seeks to come into Canada for a temporary purpose and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or the holder of a minister's permit. Before entering Canada through a Port Of Entry, the visitor must apply for and obtain a visa. In each case both the officer at the Point Of Entry and the consular officer will require some information confirming the temporary nature of the visit. If it is a family visit and invitation from family member is required. There are various types of visas with limitations for each case, it is best for everyone to read some information on the official Canadian immigration sites before applying for a certain type of visa.
